Joy of the Sun - Savitri Devi - 1942 - SIGNED .

Joy of the Sun Savitri Devi21x17cm, 109pp. With two colour plates, four illustrations and six pictorial initial capitals in black, all by the author. Bound in green and white linen over boards, colour image of Akhnaton on paper over the front board. PRESENTATION COPY inscribed on the f.f.e.p. in blue ink: 'In remembrance of an obscure disciple of Akhnaton. Savitri Devi Mukherji Calcutta 28 Feburary 1944'. Savitri Devi's interest in the pharaoh Akhnaton (now more commonly spelled Akhenaten) and his 'religion of the disk' resulted in several works. This, an account of his life told as a children's story, predates the better-known 'A Son of God' of 1946. A scarce book - one entry on COPAC (British Library). Additionally, any book with Devi's signature is of the utmost rarity. Here she signs with her married name of Mukherji - she was living with her husband Asit Krishna Mukherji in Calcutta (Kolkata) at the time, the marriage's motivation being primarily to save her from deportation or internment. Backstrip worn, surface wear resulting in speckled white spotting to front cover, wear to edges and corners of boards, internally very good indeed
